Kotick Says DJ Hero Due Out This Year
Activision CEO gives no specific release date for turntable peripheral game.
We knew it was coming eventually, but Gamasutra reports that Activision's DJ Hero will be out this year. Company CEO Bobby Kotick told CNBC reporters about the product as an example of innovation in games. "We have this product called DJ Hero coming out later this year, which is a turntable that you can actually play competitively, spin discs and mix on," he said. Kotick didn't go into further detail about how the turntable peripheral will work or when to expect the game's release.
Rumors of the game have been swirling since before Activision trademarked the name, and Activision officially acknowledged its existence late last year. For a game reported to be a "licensing nightmare", we'll have to see the company's plans for providing downloadable content on a regular basis. It's also open to speculation if the game will be at all a part of the next Guitar Hero World Tour. We'll let you know when we get some concrete details.
