Epic Denies Gears Ten-Year Plan
You can't plan that far ahead with individual franchises, says Mark Rein.
Gears of War writer Joshua Ortega is enthusiastic about Gears of War. So enthusiastic that at a New York Comic Con panel, he claimed that the franchise has a ten-year plan. Not so fast, says Epic vice president Mark Rein.
Speaking with Videogaming247, Rein denied that Gears of War was going the route of the PlayStation 3, saying that games simply can't be planned that far ahead. As of right now, plans for Gears of War only extend to the current generation.
"In this industry you can't plan games very far in advance. We appreciate the enthusiasm Josh has for our franchise but we don't have a ten-year plan. We always have ideas of where we'd like it to go but it's determined on a game-by-game basis and ultimately by fan support," Rein said. "Our focus right now is supporting the Gears of War 2 game and community."
