EA Confirms Mass Effect 2 for Early 2010

EA's John Riccitiello announced the game's release in an investor relations conference call.

As recently as two weeks ago EA has denied the existence of Mass Effect 2, despite the fact that we know it's coming. Now, thanks to EA's investor conference call, we now know when it's coming.

Among the announcement of a number of other games' release dates, EA CEO John Riccitiello mentioned Mass Effect 2 as a Q4 release. Before you get excited thinking you'll be taking control of Commander Shepard before the end of the year, MTV Multiplayer was able to confirm with EA that Riccitiello was referring to the 2010 fiscal year, not the 2009 calendar year. In other words, Mass Effect 2's release window falls in the January - March 2010 window.

No guarantee on when we'll start learning more about the game, but at the very least you can expect a glimpse in March at the Game Developers Conference where BioWare is set to show off Mass Effect 2's level design.
